Many of my photos have a story. This photo of a heart shaped grave stone is in the little village of Balatonudvari, near Lake Balaton. A young stone carver loved a girl and they were going to be married. Shortly before the wedding, his fiance went out on Lake Balaton in a boat. A storm suddenly descended on the lake and the girl was thrown overboard and drowned. In his sorrow the young man carved a heart shaped stone for his beloved and pledged to do the same for every member of the village when they died. It’s true. Every stone in the graveyard is in the shape of a heart.

Look for it in the Hungary gallery.
