Susan DeDell - Looking down

Susan DeDell – Looking down

Susan DeDell is conductor of the Brattleboro Concert Choir. I met her across a table in a restaurant in Brattleboro over a cup of coffee. But, when I went to take her picture I realized I had brought the wrong lens. What I had was a close up lens for really close pictures. What to do? Well, of course, take her picture and hope for the best.

Stephen Stearns

Stephen Stearns

Stephen Stearns is one of the most interesting people I have met. He is an actor; more than that, he is a clown who has given 2,500 performances across the country. But, for him, his greatest achievement is founding the New England Youth Theater in Brattleboro where the kids run the show. He is a remarkable man. The hat he is wearing is his clown hat. I am impressed with people who have a mission in life and are able to achieve their goals against all odds. Hat’s off to Stephen–a clown hat of course.

Maralyn with Hat

I’ve already sent Stanley Brown’s photo. But, when I was photographing Stan, I couldn’t resist taking a picture of his wife, Maralyn. Stan had a large collection of hats. Here Maralyn is trying on the hat with pheasant feathers. If you notice, she is wearing a green outfit. While the eye adjusts colors to what it is used to seeing, the camera captures the real colors. Here the reflection of Maralyn’s green clothing was making her face green. I was able to fix it to a degree.
